Nautical Narration is here to help you navigate the seas by describing which way you’re facing.
Working in conjunction with the compass, the direction you are looking towards is read out using Sea of Thieves’ text-to-speech technology. It also works when on the ship’s wheel to aid with steering your vessel, so you’ll always know which way the winds are taking you.
Text to speech game transcription must be enabled for Nautical Narration to work.
- Navigate to Settings – Language
- Move down to the section titled Text and Speech
- Set Nautical Narration Mode
There are several options:
- Off: no narration
- One Shot Narration: the compass will narrate the direction you’re facing when you begin using (by default, pressing right trigger/right mouse) the compass.
- Continuous: the compass will narrate the direction you’re facing continuously when using the compass.
- Continuous when equipped: the compass will narrate the direction you’re facing continuously when the compass is held regardless of whether it’s being used or not.
The delay between continuous narration can also be altered:
- Navigate to Settings – Language
- Move down to the section titled Text and Speech
- Set Continuous Narration Delay
When attached to the ship’s wheel the “use” button to enable Nautical Narration can be mapped to a button of your choosing.
