To enable cross-platform invites when playing Sea of Thieves, you will need to add a players gamertag to your Xbox friend list. Here are some methods of doing so:
Adding friends via the Xbox app for PC
Search for a gamertag
- Sign in to the Xbox app, and then select the Friends tab.
- Enter the gamertag in the search box, and then press Enter. Be sure to pay close attention to the gamertag's spelling and spacing.
- Right-click the profile in the search results that you want to add, and then select Open Profile.
- Select the Add Friend button in the profile screen. You will appear as a follower until they add you to their friends list.
Search your recent players
- Sign in to the Xbox app, and then select the Social tab.
- Select More options (…), and then select Recently played with.
- Select the game title to expand the list of players whom you encountered online.
- Select the profile that you want to add, and then select Follow. You will appear as a follower until they add you to their friends list.
Add friends on the Xbox mobile app
- Sign in to the Xbox app on your mobile device.
- Select the Search icon at the bottom of the screen, and then select People.
- Enter the gamertag of the person whom you want to add as a friend in the search box, and then press Done. Be sure to pay close attention to the gamertag's spelling and spacing.
- Select the Xbox profile that you want to add, and then select Add friend.
