How are Xbox Accounts Linked to Battle.net?

There are a couple of ways in which you can link your Gamertag to Battle.net. Below, you will find steps for linking your accounts through the Battle.net Account Connections and upon launching Sea of Thieves through the launcher.

 

How do I link an Xbox account to the Battle.Net Launcher?

To connect your Xbox account to your Battle.net account, please following the steps below:

  • Open the settings menu by clicking on your Profile, found in the top-right of the Battle.net launcher.
  • Select "Account Settings" from the menu. This will open a tab in your default browser.
  • Having moved to your browser, select "Connections" from the sidebar.
  • Under the "Connected Accounts" section, find the Xbox Network field and press the "+Connect" button.
  • This will open a new window, asking you to log in with your Gamertag and approve the connection. Select "Approve" to complete the connection process.
  • If successful, you will now see the Xbox logo alongside the Xbox Network field within the Connected Accounts section.

Not only will this streamline the login process when launching Sea of Thieves through the Battle.net launcher, but it will also provide any Game Pass benefits to your Battle.net account and games.

How do I link an Xbox Account if I have not linked an account through the Battle.Net Launcher?

Similar to the Steam version of Sea of Thieves, once launched, a window will appear prompting you to enter your Xbox Account details. After entering your credentials, you will be able to log in to Sea of Thieves and begin playing.

How do I unlink an Xbox account from the Battle.Net Version of Sea of Thieves?

Within the main menu of the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves, simply select the Sign Out / Switch Account option, which will allow you to unlink or switch accounts.

 

How do I send / receive invites to / from other players within the Battle.net Version of Sea of Thieves:

Please note that using the Xbox Gamebar to invite players is not supported within the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves.

To invite a fellow player to your session within the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves, simply go to 'Create a Session' and press the ‘1’ key (X Button on Xbox controllers / Square Button on PlayStation controllers) on your keyboard. A pop-up window will then appear, displaying a list of your Xbox friends, from which you can invite friends to join your session.

If you are already in a session and wish to invite friends, you can do so by accessing the pause menu, selecting the 'Invite Friends' option, and following the same process as described above.

Regarding invitations from other players within the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves, once an invitation is sent by another player, it will appear as a prompt in-game asking whether you would like to join their session. You can then choose to accept or decline the invitation.

 

How do I use Voice Chat within the Battle.net Version of Sea of Thieves?

Voice chat within Sea of Thieves is managed at the Xbox Account level; therefore, ensuring that your operating system audio settings, such as your default communication device, are properly configured will suffice.

Please be aware that Xbox Accounts designated as Xbox Child Accounts are unable to access Voice Chat within Sea of Thieves.

If you are experiencing technical issues with the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves, please open your Battle.net client and right-click on the Sea of Thieves entry in your list of Battle.net games. From the context menu, select the "Scan and Repair" option, then allow the process to complete. Afterward, try launching the game to see if the issue has been resolved.

The codes for the Battle.net version of Sea of Thieves are formatted in a 5x4 alphanumeric arrangement. To redeem these codes, please open the Battle.net Desktop App, click on the profile icon located at the top right corner, and select the "Redeem Code" option. From there, you can enter your code to complete the redemption process. How are premium purchases made through Battlenet applied to an account?

Similar to the other platform versions of Sea of Thieves, premium purchases made through the Battle.net Store are credited to the account level of a pirate. This means that if a pirate is deleted, the premium purchases will remain associated with the account and available for future use.
