If you have recently acquired a pet from the Pirate Emporium and are unsure of how to apply a personalised name to your pet, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Firstly, ensure you are in an active session within the Sea of Thieves.
- Proceed to the Pet Chest, which is identifiable by its feathers and red cloth. These chests can be found onboard your ship on the lower decks or outside the Pirate Emporium shop located at each Outpost.
- Once you have opened the Pet Chest, navigate to the pet you wish to use.
- To select your pet, press Enter (Keyboard and Mouse), A (Xbox Controller), or X (PlayStation Controller).
- Press 1 (Keyboard and Mouse), X (Xbox Controller) or Square (PlayStation Controller) to select the ‘Rename Pet’ option

Please enter the desired pet name using the on-screen keyboard for Xbox and PlayStation, or simply type as usual if on a PC, ensuring compliance with the restrictions outlined below:
Pet Name Restrictions:
- The pet name must not exceed 15 characters in length.
- The pet name may only include letters (A-Z, a-z), numerals (0-9), and a single space.
- The pet name cannot begin with a number.
- The pet name must not start or end with a space.Please note: Any pet names found to violate the Xbox Code of Conduct may result in appropriate account actions being undertaken.
- Once an appropriate name has been chosen, you can complete the submission select Submit by pressing A (Xbox Controller), X (PlayStation Controller) or Enter on Keyboard
- Finally, close the menu interface by pressing ESC (Keyboard and Mouse), B (Xbox Controller), or O (PlayStation Controller). Your pet should then appear within the environment with it's new name, ready for interaction.
