The amount of content creators hitting the Sea of Thieves continues to grow and so following your feedback, we’ve provided a number of settings to reduce the negative experience of stream sniping. We are continuing to assess further areas of support for content creators and will keep this guide updated as we add new features.

Prevent Friends
Joining Your Crew Without an Invite

This setting prevents the ability for anyone on your friends list to join your active crew if they have not been issued an invite.

  • Navigate to Back > My Crew > Crew Management
  • Set Allow Friends to Join Me to No

Hiding Non-Crew Gamertags

This setting allows streamers to hide the gamertags of players they encounter out in the world that are not part of their crew.

  • Navigate to Back > Settings > Gameplay
  • Set Show Nameplates Above Other Crews to Off

Hiding Non-Crew Text Chat

This setting allows streamers to hide the text chat (chat messages by keyboard or chatpad) sent by players they encounter out in the world that are not part of their crew. This setting also hides the visibility of the players gamertag from the Chat Notification Window.

  • Navigate to Back > My Crew > All Other Crews
  • Set Mute All Other Crews Text Chat to Yes

Hiding Non-Crew
Phrases Chat

This setting allows streamers to hide the phrases chat (radial messages such as ‘Ahoy’ etc) sent by players they encounter out in the world that are not part of their crew. This setting also hides the visibility of the players gamertag from the Chat Notification Window.

  • Navigate to Back > My Crew > All Other Crews
  • Set Mute All Other Crews Phrases Chat to Yes
